Gas Hobs & Electric Hobs
Hobs come in several sizes and two fuel types. The most popular combination is the 60cm Gas Hob Cobination as this is what is fitted in most homes as standard. Stainless steel hobs are very popular especially with the Rapid wok burner.
Electric Hobs have changed in the past couple of years with new technologies like Induction making electric hobs quicker and easier to use. The most popular form of electric hob is Halogen. Electric hobs a sometimes referred to as Ceramic this is because of the Black Ceramic glass that the pans sit on.

Electric Hobs - Choose from a wide range of hobs at Unbeatable
Electric hobs are a popular choice thanks to their easy cleaning, energy efficiency, touch controls and different design options. Electric hobs are available in a variety of types such as sealed plate hobs, radiant rings, ceramic hobs and induction hobs. With sealed plate hobs, the plate beneath which the pan sits, distributes heat evenly over the base of the pan for even cooking. They can be more costly to buy than a gas alternative, but in the long run they use less energy. Radiant rings are the cheapest hob type to buy. The light underneath glows red when it is at its highest heat, but can be rather slow to heat up and cool down. Ceramic hobs have a heat resistant glass finish with either a halogen, radiant or semi-halogen heating element beneath. Although ceramic hobs tend to be the most expensive to buy, they are the most effective. Modern varieties have features that let you know when the hob is cool and touch controls. Induction hobs heat with a magnetic field and saucepans with a magnetic base must be used. They have an increased speed of heating and are more energy efficient, but prices tend to start at around £500.

Gas Hobs - Choose from a range of Gas Hobs at great prices
Gas hobs provide instant heat and the ability to control the heat directly. There are more parts to a gas hob, than an electric hob, however they are considerably cheaper. You can choose from a variety of gas hob designs with different sized burners to suit your requirements. Modern gas hobs have improved safety features such as gas switch off when the flame is out, auto ignition when the knob is turned and auto gas off when the hob lib is lowered. These modern hobs also have the option of a wok burner and a choice of colour and finish. Glass finished hobs are becoming increasingly popular due their attractive appearance along with being easy to clean as grease and dirt is more visible.
